Backpack Program

What is the BackPack Program?

The BackPack Program is a project of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan which

works to reduce child hunger, educate and promote healthy lifestyles. The

program provides children that are at risk of hunger with a backpack of nutritious

food every weekend and school holiday throughout the school year.

How does the BackPack Program work?
  • Volunteers receive food at the school and distribute the food.

  • The food goes into backpacks purchased by the program.

  • Backpacks are discreetly distributed to the appropriate children on the last day of each school week.

How to Contribute?
  • A $100 donation provides enough food for one child for the entire school year.

  • We are looking for donations that will support one child, five children or more.

Contributions
  • 100% of contributions go directly towards the program.

  • Donors are eligible for Tax Deductions on State and Federal Taxes.

  • We have time for you. If you're considering a donation to the BackPack Program I would like to speak with you and answer your questions.
