Requirements for 2009 Graduates

Course Subject Required Number of Credits
English

All students must take English 9, English 10, English 11(Applied or College Prep), and English 12 (Applied or College Prep).  Basic English I, Basic English II, and LC English classes will also fulfill these requirements.

Math

Students may choose any of the following options: Basic Algebra, Basic Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus or Calculus.  LC Math and Alt. Ed. Math may also be used to fulfill these requirements.

Science

All students must take Science 9 and Science 10.  Additional science is recommended to pass the MEAP test and prepare for college. LC Science classes will also fulfill these requirements.

Social Studies

All students must pass 1 yr. of Civics/Economics, 1 cr. of U. S. History, 1 cr. of Government, and ½ credit Global Studies.  LC Social Studies courses will also count toward these requirements.

Physical Education

All students must pass 1 year of Physical Education (One half year of Health would fulfill ½ credit).  Two seasons of sport or two seasons of marching band can also be used to fulfill this requirement.

Computer Literacy

All students must pass 1 semester of Computer Literacy.

There are no exemptions to this requirement.

Visual, Performing, Applied Arts

The following courses can be used to fullfill this requirement: Performance English, Art 1, Advanced Art, Drawing & Painting, Sculpture & Ceramics, Crafts, Photography, Symphony Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, & Industrial Education.  Many courses at the Tech Center will qualify for this credit as well.
