The Red Hawk Way
NEW Paradigm Shift for Cass City Middle School- The use of data to help make informed decisions. Goals are monitored by using AIMSweb to collect student literacy data and SWIS which provides valuable data on student behavior.

Research Shows-Combine the best of scientifically based practices in literacy and behavior identification and intervention.
  • If students don’t know how to read…..we teach them
  • If students can’t do a math problem….we teach them
  • If students don’t know how to behave appropriately….we teach them
Demonstrations of expected behaviors are modeled on days one and two of new school year in the following areas:

·                     Arrival/Departure Areas
·                     Hallway travel
·                     Classrooms
·                     Bathrooms
·                     Cafeteria
·                     Locker Room
·                     Bus
·                     Recess Areas

…Cass City Middle School is committed to teaching all of the above, or teaching the “whole” child by using a positive behavior support model for behavior management.

PRIDE Character Traits
Be Honest
Be Caring
Be Respectful
Be Responsible

School wide Formal REWARD Day Recognition:
Students earn PRIDE tickets for doing things that exemplify one of our     character traits…Respectful, Responsible, Caring and Honest. Teachers then turn in the tickets during the week for the bi-weekly drawing for prizes. Students are selected at random to win a prize.

Examples of prizes are: free homework pass, free snack from the lunchroom, McDonald’s coupons, free video rentals, book bags, pens, pencils, etc.

All students who have not earned one of the following will be invited to our monthly REWARD Day activities:

1.     NO Major Referrals
2.     3 or Less Minor Referrals

What if my child already knows how to behave appropriately?
Creating a culture of positive behavior has allowed us to honor, reinforce and reward all positive behavior.
