¡Hola!
I was privileged to have spent four years in the country of Spain as a teenager. It was there where I learned the Spanish language. However, I realized quickly that there is more to learning a language than simply saying the “right words.” I also had to learn about Spanish culture. By using the correct spoken language, along with following the correct cultural norms, I had success in communicating with the Spanish people. I incorporate these two elements into my Spanish classes. I do this by using a variety of methods and strategies. There are times I have the students get out of their seats and we have fun learning or reviewing a concept, but there are also times of serious discussion and quiet study.
I went to Saginaw Valley State University and I am certified to teach K-12 Spanish. I am also certified to teach History/Global Studies. I am now completing the requirements for a Social Studies endorsement and then I plan to go on to and do the work needed for a Master’s Degree.
I encourage students to take responsibility and ownership for their learning. I teach that there are consequences to all behavior – good and bad, and I encourage them to make good choices. I especially want my students to know that I am approachable and that I care about their success inside and outside of the classroom.
A little about myself: I am married to Melanie (Fritz), a 1994 Cass City High School graduate. I have two children who attend school here at Cass City. I enjoy reading, playing the guitar, sports, spending time with my family, and attending Cass City Missionary Church.
