Letter from Superintendent Hartel

Hello Red Hawk Families,

The governor has ordered schools closed until at least April 6, 2020 UPDATE: April 13, 2020.  This is a quickly evolving situation with many questions remaining and minimal guidance available at this time. In order to provide time for clarification of the Governor’s expectations during the school closing period, all school buildings will be closed and all services suspended from the end of the day Friday 13, 2020 through Sunday April 5, 2020. There will be no spring sports practice or any other activities inside our district buildings until we have more time to evaluate the situation. Our goal is to try to get food to families in some manner but we are just not sure how to do it right now.  We may need to work with local churches and food banks to help us deliver food to our entire community.  If you feel you could benefit from a sack lunch delivered to your home once things are figured out, please email Shari Bock at so that we can get an estimate on need. An announcement will be made over the weekend via email and our school’s Facebook page on the lunch program we will have in place.

Again, things seem to be changing by the hour.  Thank you for your patience and support.  I will keep you informed as I learn of new things to pass along.  Keeping an eye to your local news is also a good way to keep abreast of current news/changes.

Our goal is to get the 3rd marking period completed when we return.  We are making every effort to ensure no student’s grades are adversely affected by this.  I promise each and every one of you we will do all we can to keep our entire community safe and make sure our students educational needs are met to the best of our ability.   Staff has been asked to have things ready for students to take home to work on as practice or to finish up work from the 3rd marking period.

Stay safe!

Jeff Hartel
